I am Sean McGuire, an 11th grade student at Evanston Township High School. This year we are doing history fair, and I want to do the topic of Ferrari vs. Ford in the 1960’s, and the GT40. I wasn’t sure who to contact, but since you at Jalopnik cultivated my love for cars, I figured I would at least try to reach out to you first. I would love some advice on who to talk to, or anything that you guys could do to help out, it would be a dream come true.

Well my company made the transmissions in the LeMans winning GT40s, and I also live in Evanston. But I don’t quite know that I have anyone I could refer you to talk to. :/

One cool (and public) site that has some Ford stuff that may be useful in it is media.ford.com. you can search in there for GT40.

Check with Classic Car Club in Manhattan, they have a GT40 replica that they care for. Actually, nuts to that, find a way to contact James Glickenhaus or search for articles featuring his cars. He OWNS BOTH a MK IV GT40 and it’s contemporary Ferrari P3/4 rival.

This book by A. J. Baime is fantastic. You can download it free as stated in this video. You can also find websites with info on Google...........”Ford GT40 vs. Ferrari”..............or something similar.

Also, it might be worth contacting Holman Moody, who raced some GTs for Ford in period. They’re in North Carolina, and might have some interesting history to share. I just checked their website , and there’s supposed to be a link to some GT history, but it doesn’t work. Hell, Ford and Ferrari may be willing to provide you some history if you ask nicely (Ferrari NA, of course).
